Treatise on True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary

Written by St. Louis de Montfort between 1712 and 1715, the Treatise on True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary is a classic of Marian spirituality and a guide for those seeking total consecration to Jesus through Mary. It deeply influenced St. John Paul II, inspiring his papal motto, Totus Tuus, “Totally Yours,” and his own devotion to Mary.

About the author

St. Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort (1673–1716) was a French missionary priest who preached tirelessly in the towns and villages of western France and founded the Company of Mary and the Daughters of Wisdom. His manuscript of the Treatise remained hidden until 1842 and was first published in 1843. Venerable Pius XII canonized him in 1947.
